Historical Monuments In Agra Ready to Welcome Tourists from 1st September 2020
Almost after six months of India entering into the state of lockdown, the reopening of the historical tourist sites of Agra has been scheduled. In accordance with the statements issued by the district magistrate of the city, PN Singh, all the historic monuments of the city, except Agra Fort and Taj Mahal, will start welcoming public visitors from 1st September, based on their scheduled timings.
This important announcement is surely a piece of cheerful news for all travel enthusiasts and history buffs across the country. Further, it has also raised the morales of tour operators and has given them hopes of resumption of the travel industry in this “new normal” atmosphere of COVID-19.
According to the state of the pandemic in Agra, the number of Coronavirus positive cases are now under control and the popular historic sites such as Mehtab Bagh, Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah, Fatehpur Sikri, Ram Bagh and Sikandra Tomb, have been eliminated from the “Buffer Zones” list. The reopening of these places of tourist interest in Agra will strictly abide by the COVID-19 protocols and encourage the visitors to use masks and follow social distancing norms.
The historic monuments of Agra were initially scheduled to reopen on 6th July, but the plan got postponed due to the increased Coronavirus positive cases in the city as well as the enlistment of these monuments under the buffer zones list.
