Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha recently announced in a cabinet meeting that
Thailand will soon be introducing a 90-day-long visa for travellers. The decision comes as an attempt to revive the tourism industry of the country. All travellers entering Thailand with this Visa would have to quarantine for 14 days and will have the option of choosing to do this at various premium stays.

The Visa also requires travellers to book accommodation for the entire duration of 90 days. The Visa will then be extendable for 180 more days in two 90-days periods. To enter, travellers will require health and travel insurance.

The number of this special long term visa is available in a limited number and is available as a first-come-first-serve basis.

The news has come as a relief to many travellers looking forward to visiting this beautiful country in the coming months. The various safety measures taken by the government in Thailand and the tourism board have proved to be commendable in controlling the number of COVID cases. This includes a Safety Certification Program for business and is already taken up by various hotels, restaurants, tour operators, tourism hotspots, etc. With these strict safety measures and the introduction of this novel Visa, tour operators are also hopeful for a quicker recovery of international tourism in the country.
